Empowerment Camp, Girls and Non-binary Youth – Fire & Flower | Kids Out and About Vancouver

Empowerment Camp, Girls and Non-binary Youth – Fire & Flower

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 03/22/2024
We are so excited to be back at West Point Grey for Spring Break. Join us for 5 fabulous days of unforgettable fun, belonging and feeling AWESOME!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

In all Fire & Flower programs, we create a space of radical acceptance for girls and non-binary youth. We celebrate the ways we are both unique from each other and unified in our shared experiences & concerns. Participants are supported to explore the joys and challenges that come with growing up in a fun, judgement free environment. This is a LGBTQ2SIAP+ inclusive and welcoming space.

Each of our 4 empowerment camps delve into different themes and topics surrounding adolescence and young womanhood. Each camp balances learning with relevant activities and a daily dose of nature time. We also provide space for vulnerability and openness with our daily heart circles.

Kingfisher Camp

In Coast Salish culture, kingfisher birds symbolize right timing, moving forward in life and abundance. Our Kingfisher Camp curriculum includes:

  • Physical developments and emotional shifts at this time in life
  • The diversity of anatomy in different bodies (female, male, intersex)
  • An in-depth look at menstruation

We keep groups small with only 6-12 participants to maximize connection & intimacy. It’s like a 5-day sleepover without actually sleeping over.

A parent or significant adult is asked to join us Friday afternoon from 1-3:30pm for some special facilitated connection time. Please make arrangements to join us for this meaningful afternoon.

Details about what to bring and required forms will be emailed to you about 2 weeks before the program.
