Family Day at Recreation Facilities

Skating

Various locations, dates & times

Bring the whole family out to one of the dates below for a fun themed skate! Participate in games, be entered to win prizes, and more. Regular drop-in admissions apply. Skate and helmet rentals are available.

  • February 16, 6:15pm to 7:45pm at Cloverdale Arena
  • February 17, 5pm to 6:30pm at North Surrey Sport & Ice Complex
  • February 18, 10:45am to 12:45pm at Surrey Sports & Leisure Complex
  • February 19, 5:45pm to 7:15pm at Newton Arena

Celebration at Clayton Community Centre

February 17, 1pm to 4pm

Enjoy an afternoon of free arts and recreation activities! This event also celebrates the completion of Yarn Around—a large knitting project that local residents have been building over the past few months.

Join Surrey SPARK Stages' free presentation of Foolish Operation's Tricoter—perfect for all ages.

Drop by one of the following participating facilities on Monday, February 19 for free activities, including arts & crafts, sports and more:

  • Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre at 11am to 2pm
  • Cloverdale Recreation Centre at 11am to 1pm 
  • South Surrey Recreation & Arts Centre at 10am to 12pm

Take a swim or play a sport

Make a splash at the pool or participate in a friendly competition with your family at a gymnasium sport! View our drop-in schedules to plan your visit in advance and be sure to check out the holiday hours of operation.


Family Day at Darts Hill Garden Park

February 17, 10am to 4pm

Join us for the Winter Open House! Take part in free activities and celebrate this holiday with your family one of Surrey's beautiful feature gardens.

Family Day at the Museum of Surrey

February 17, 10am to 4pm

Play board games, join a scavenger hunt, and take photos with our mascot Raj the Raccoon.

Family Day at the Historic Stewart Farm

February 19, 12pm to 4pm

Enjoy some old-fashioned family fun at the Farm! Drop in for activities and heritage demonstrations suitable for the whole family.

Explore your local park and nature trails

Get outside and enjoy a walk at a nature trail near you! Not sure where to go to? Surrey has over 100-kilometres of trails and paths for you to enjoy. Browse the Nature Trails of Surrey guide and get ready to explore. You can also discover Surrey's great trees!

Discover local art or create your own  

Surrey is filled with a growing collection of art from mosaics and paintings to contemporary illuminated sculptures. Grab your phone and take a self-guided walking tour to see the public art displays across the City. Learn more about each art installation and artist using the interactive Surrey Arts & Culture Map.  

If you're looking for an indoor art activity, check out Surrey Art Gallery's Art in Motion, a series of video-based art lessons created by artists and educators using materials easily found at home. Learn how to draw, create textures, play with colour, make salt dough sculptures and more.

Play tennis or pickleball

Find your tennis or pickleball racquet and get a game going with your friends and family! Check out a tennis or pickleball court.

Visit a playground with the kids 

Surrey's playgrounds are open every day from dawn until dusk and are a fun, free activity for families with young children. Make a day of it and enjoy a picnic at the park too! Check out all playground locations and find the one closest to you.  

Learn about your family history 

Log in to Surrey Libraries and make use of all the resources to find your roots. With one of the largest family history collections in western Canada (including records containing over 4 billion names from over 80 countries), you might learn something new about your family history.
