Bring the whole family and learn how to get involved in taking action to support wild birds! The Great Backyard Bird Count brings thousands of bird lovers together around the globe to help scientist count local bird populations before the massive spring migration.
Join us on Saturday February 10th at VanDusen Botanical Garden to learn how you and your family can participate as citizen scientists in this fun and impactful global initiative. We’ll start the day with an introduction to birdwatching, practice our skills in the Garden on a bird walk, and review how you can go on to participate at home in the Great Backyard Bird Count between February 16th- 19th.
The Great Backyard Bird Count is an inter-organizational effort between the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, National Audubon Society, and Birds Canada - check out their website for more information about their programs.
