Richmond Garlic Fest
The highlight of the festival will continue to be the garlic plant, with over 1,000 pounds of locally grown garlic for sale. Alongside The Sharing Farm’s own garlic, BC Garlic will provide additional varieties of the popular bulb including Russian Red, Music, and Purple Italian Softneck. Top chefs from the Lower Mainland will showcase delicious garlic-laced dishes, available for purchase. Additionally, Samantha Philips from Victory Gardens will be giving tips on growing your own garlic.
The festival will also feature live music, garlic ice cream, a large selection of The Sharing Farm’s own produce, giveaways and a children’s area with family-friendly activities.
The Sharing Farm is partnering with the City of Richmond to create an enhanced festival. Along with the usual foods and local farmers market, expert bird handlers will educate and entertain event attendees with flying demonstrations of native birds of prey. Attendees will be able to watch these birds perform a number of flying maneuvers, acrobatics and speed and dexterity drills.
