Family Day Weekend- Celebrate the Strange!

There are many ways to be a family and no two are alike. While it might seem like human families have many differences, they’re very normal in the overall animal kingdom! Join us to delight in the seemingly strange but infinitely interesting world of animal family dynamics.

WHAT:
- Self-guided activities: Negotiate like a barn owl chick or keep all of the fox kits fed at self-guided stations around the building!
- Facilitated activities:
- 10am – 12pm: Egg Exchangers– Navigate the Centre like a Brown-headed Cowbird in search of a nest and discover their unique approach to laying eggs while on the move.
- 12pm – 2pm: Storytime – Listen to Bird Boy by Matthew Burgess followed by a craft.
- 2pm – 4pm: How Do We Know? – Practice your observational skills as you investigate some of the many ways we learn about animal behaviour.
WHEN: February 17th – 19th, 10:00am – 4:00pm
WHERE: Fraser River Discovery Centre, 788 Quayside Drive, New Westminster, BC
COST: FREE ADMISSION on February 19th – Presented by Loren Nancke.
Included in admission to the Discovery Centre. Admission is free for members. Specific costs are listed below:
- Family Ticket ($20.00 each) – for 2 adults and up to 4 children
- Adult Ticket ($8.00) – Adult 19 and older
- Senior Ticket ($6.00) – Senior 65 and older
- Student Ticket ($6.00) – Student ID required
- Child ticket ($5.00) – children aged 3-12
- Children 2 and under register for free.
Caretakers are asked to remain with their children for the duration of their visit.
