Example Challenges

Star Seeker - Find and photo document a sea star. Hint: You'll find sea stars hiding among the rocks at low tide. Use #ExploreSeaSmart when posting your photo on social media!

Litter Getter - Bring a bucket or a bag to the beach and pick up all the litter you can find. Extra kudos if you separate the litter into landfill, recycling, and compost and dispose of it properly!

Sun Up - Get up before the sun rises and head down to the beach if you can. Watch the sky brighten and the animals wake up. Then, talk about your favourite part about this time of day.

Bonus Challenge - Ambleside Explorer

Ambleside Park is the best place for a date, with little treasures lying in wait.
Start at the circle where boards go around, wheels go down, and scrapes can be found.
Make your way towards where sailboats sleep, tight in a heap, dreaming of the deep.
Halfway there you will get to a place, with a smile on your face, watch the little ones race.
Come aboard for a grand adventure! Where will you sail to find more treasure?
Look port side and what do you see? Critters on the edge of the sea. Less than 10 but more than three - tell us the count and you’ll be free!
