Book Buddies is a one-on-one reading program to help young readers get more comfortable and confident with reading. Developing readers are paired with teen volunteers to read together and play literacy games during a 30-minute session each week.
Sessions are available in 30-minute timeslots starting at 4:00 pm, 4:30 pm, and 5:00 pm. When you register your child, you will choose one of these timeslots and attend that same time each week for five consecutive weeks with the same teen buddy.
Book Buddies is open to children ages 6 to 11. As this is a 'reading assistance' program and not a 'teaching reading from scratch' program, participants should be able to read English at a very basic level.
Please call Parkgate Library at 604-929-3727 x8166 or visit the Parkgate Library Information Desk to register your child. Registration opens Thursday, April 23rd.
