Breakaway from boredom and unleash your child’s inner athlete by adding some excitement to their vacation with a Canlan Hockey Camp. Our camps offer an action-packed week of hockey conditioning, skill development and off-ice games for children of all ages and skill levels.
Let our qualified and friendly instructors improve your child’s hockey skills by focusing on progression and proper technique. Participants will learn new skills and drills in an environment that fosters sportsmanship, teamwork and most of all fun.

Aimed to improve the individual quickness of players, the Speed, Agility & Skills camp is designed specifically for players striving to advance their game play. With a focus on the technical aspects of skating and puck control, this program’s major focuses on agility with and without a puck. Improvement starts with consistent repetition, sweat and a desire to succeed. Aimed to improve a player’s individual quickness and overall skills, this camp features a variety of dry-land activities and off-ice conditioning that will complement a player’s development.

The Breakaway 3on3 Hockey Skills camp makes players think faster, skate harder and develop greater endurance. Small-sided games improve overall skill development and game strategy by challenging players both offensively and defensively. Battle and Compete Camps will push players to compete at a higher level in key areas of the rink including in front of the net, corners, and along the boards. Players will become more comfortable with body contact and the physical aspects of the game as they near the ages of body checking. Players will learn how to utilize their bodies to win the 1 on 1 battles and races for loose pucks along with proper puck protection and angling skills.

Passing, Shooting and Scoring Camp is intended to allow athletes to become more proficient with the puck. This camp will break down technical components involved in passing and shooting and then perform their skills with game like situations around the net. New skills will be taught to players while they are stationary to increase confidence. The skills will then be brought to life by adding speed. As each skill is conquered, drills will increase in difficulty by executing these skills in a small area, with quick reactions to offset the nerves and the hesitation players tend to have when they don’t have total confidence. Our camps are split up by skill regardless of age to ensure that every child is being challenged.

The 1 on 1 - Attack and Defend Camp will develop creative puck control skills such as toe drag, head fakes, deception techniques and puck protection; highlighting the importance of positioning your body between the puck and opponent. The camp Will also include one on one techniques with a goaltender focusing on reading a goalies positioning and understanding when to shoot or deak.
With the puck, each player will learn how to read a defenders body positioning, and increase one on one success. Athletes will also develop the ability to defend without the puck, learning stick placement, body positioning and take away techniques. Participants will leave with a more confident attitude with and without the puck.

This program is perfect for children who are interested in learning the basics of hockey in a fun and safe setting! Unlike most hockey programs, full hockey equipment is not required for this program. Skates, a helmet with face mask, gloves and a stick is all that is required. We recommend participants also have completed a Learn-to-Skate program before registering in Skating for Hockey. Our experienced instructors look forward to teaching your child the game. During on-ice instruction participants will begin to learn the skills of the game, starting with the basics of how to hold a hockey stick and progressing to fundamentals of puck control, passing, and shooting, all while building their confidence. Upon completion of this program we are sure your child will love hockey as much as we do!
