Generative AI and Machine Learning, Demystified

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 08/16/2024
From self-driving cars to chatbots like chatGPT, the magic of AI and Machine Learning is reshaping our future. So, is machine learning only accessible to researchers and engineers at powerful tech companies? Nope! In this camp you will be able to demystify the world of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, learn about its ethical implications, and even create something amazing using AI technology yourself! No prior experience in computer science or machine learning is required.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

What will you learn?

Fundamentals of AI and Machine Learning: Delve into the essence of Artificial Intelligence and its practical applications in daily life. This workshop features engaging discussions and tangible examples, introducing various AI tools that are not only educational but also enhance aspects of daily life and study.

Metrics in Machine Learning: Learn how to measure the effectiveness of ML algorithms. Just like scores in a game, we’ll investigate how to determine if your ML model is winning or needs improvement.

Deep Dive into Decision Trees and Data Analysis: Explore decision trees through practical activities and learn about the importance of features, thresholds, and classes in machine learning.

Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Model: Dive deeper into NLP, including how machines understand and process human languages. Get hands-on experience with NLP tasks, sentiment analysis, and word embeddings. Explore the use of large language models like ChatGPT and how transformers work.

AI Ethics and Responsible Innovation: Engage in discussions about the societal impact of AI, contemplating issues of bias, fairness, and responsible AI development that ensures AI safety.

Generative AI and Computer Vision: Uncover the secrets of how computers perceive and understand visual data from images and videos through algorithms. Dive into the realm of visual data storage and processing. We'll embark on training our own computer vision classifier utilizing large vision models. Engage in experiments with advanced generative AI models and delve into creative ventures, including artistic style transformation and art creation.

Reinforcement Learning in Action: Discuss high-profile AI systems like self-driving cars, and understand how these advanced technologies are developed. Experience the principles of reinforcement learning through interactive games and simulations, understanding its real-world applications and complexities.
