*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 10/26/2019
Gather to enjoy a spooktacular bowl of matcha during our popular Book Sale at the Nikkei Centre on Saturday, October 26, 2019! The tea ceremony is a carefully choreographed Japanese cultural activity of preparing and serving matcha tea accompanied by traditional Japanese sweets. It is appropriate for anyone who is interested in the art of tea and/or Japanese culture.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Here you can sign up for a 45-minute long tea ceremony. Tea ceremonies are offered at 11am, 12pm and 3pm. Participants will observe how movements, gestures, tea utensils and the guests themselves are all carefully considered while performing the ceremony. Afterward, you will be served matcha with wagashi.

If you have ever wanted to make your own matcha tea, then this is for you! Tea Making Experience (1pm and 2pm) includes a tea ceremony introduction, presentation, and offering an opportunity for guests to make matcha tea on their own. This is recommended for families and anyone who would like to try to make the tea themselves. This workshop is suitable for ages 6 and up.
