Lions Gate Sinfonia - Classical Cello: Tradition and the Creative Process

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 01/26/2019
Dr. John Friesen, a Vancouver-born musician, quite simply, is a brilliant cellist. He grew up in our area and often returns home from his professorship at Western Washington University to teach and perform. In addition to his playing the brilliant Cello Concerto #1 by Haydn, Sinfonia will present music by Haydn’s star pupil Mozart, and a sparkling, rhythmically vibrant, and melodious new Symphony composed for us by one of Canada’s busiest and best composers, Vancouver’s own Christopher Tyler Nickel.
