The Royal Canadian Theatre Company will close their 2025/26 season with the fantastical, magical and beautiful tale of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. This show promises love, friendship and unforgettable moments, perfect for the whole family. This production will tour at the Surrey Arts Centre (March 13-15), The Evergreen Cultural Centre (March 20-22) and Anvil Theatre in New Westminster (March 27-29). The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, adapted by Dwayne Hartford based on the book by Kate DiCamillo, asks the question, “How long does it take to learn how to love?”

The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, written by Kate DiCamillo is a Newberry Award winning author. Other books include Because of Wynn Dixie and The Tale of Despereaux, both of which have been turned into movies. This production follows a Porcelain rabbit, named Edward Tulane, over a 20-year span. He begins with a little girl on Egypt street, counting the minutes waiting for her to get home each day. However, he is too vain to show her any true care. He only cares about his looks and how he is presented to those around him. It’s not until he is lost over the side of a ship, is passed hand to hand, changed from a suit to dress to rags, and sees through a range of people’s eyes, does he learn the human experience. This production consists of four actors playing over 26 different characters and different instruments throughout the production. Bring the whole family to this theatre production, and use your imaginations as you follow Edward Tulane through this fantabulous journey.

RCTC is able to offer three relaxed performances in partnership with the Surrey Civics Theatre and the Massey Theatre Society for The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane on March 14th and March 28th at 6:30pm, with a third in Coquitlam on March 21 at 7:30pm . This includes technical adjustments and ASL interpreters available while the performance stays the same.
