A solar eclipse is an awe-inspiring celestial event and relatively rare to experience in its full splendor as the Moon’s shadow traverses the globe along a narrow path of totality. However, folks living in North America will have the opportunity to witness two of these extraordinary events with an Annual Solar Eclipse in October of 2023 and a Total Solar Eclipse in April of 2024. Learn about the science behind the phenomena, where best to view the event(s), what to expect before and during the eclipse, eye safety, and other considerations for maximum enjoyment of these cosmic spectacles.
Bill Cloutier is a NASA Solar System Ambassador, amateur astronomer, and founding member of the John J. McCarthy Observatory in New Milford, Connecticut. He has a life-long interest in astronomy, astrophotography, space exploration history, with a special interest in lunar imaging, and sharing those interests with the public.
Free! Registration is required.
