SuperMOM Walk/Run | Kids Out and About Vancouver

SuperMOM Walk/Run

The SuperMom Walk/Run offers a perfect opportunity to come together for a fun and meaningful day. Participants can enjoy breakfast, snacks, prizes, and complete the 5km Walk/Run, all while raising vital funds for Parkinson Canada. The Parkinson Canada SuperMom supports women with Parkinson’s, and we are committed to raising awareness, empowering women to reclaim control of their lives, and celebrating their courage, love, and strength. Through the support of our sponsors, partners, and the Parkinson’s community, we fund essential programs, services, and research dedicated to improving the health and quality of life of women with Parkinson’s across Canada, while continuing to advocate for better healthcare outcomes for all people affected.

Carlota Lee, known to many as Carly, has always been an avid marathon runner and passionate fundraiser. Running was her rhythm, her routine, her way of connecting with the world. But in 2019, her life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Suddenly, Carly had to adapt to a slower pace and navigate new limitations, yet her commitment to supporting women living with Parkinson’s only grew stronger.

As the founder of the SuperMom Walk/Run, Carlota has created an event that celebrates women while raising vital funds and awareness for Parkinson Canada. Her journey recently took another turn when she was re-diagnosed with atypical Parkinson’s—progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). PSP progresses more rapidly than typical Parkinson’s, sharing some symptoms while presenting others uniquely. Carlota now experiences resting tremors, challenges with swallowing, voice and balance issues, and bradykinesia that slows her movements. Despite these changes, her cognitive abilities remain intact, and she continues to live life fully while advocating for both women with Parkinson’s and those living with PSP.

Carlota's legacy continues to grow, with the SuperMom Walk/Run expanding to new locations in Calgary and Vancouver, bringing her vision and advocacy to more communities across Canada.

This Mother’s Day, Carlota invites the community to join her in supporting this important cause. Parkinson’s affects everyone differently, and women face unique challenges that make education, support, and awareness essential. Through solidarity, Carlota hopes to ensure that women with every form of Parkinson’s feel empowered and supported.
