Get ready to cross ‘visit a cool heritage site’ off your summer bucket list! Besides the stunning views and gorgeous grounds (aka room for the kids to run), the farm has hands-on activities and heritage buildings to explore. A perfect stop on a daycation in South Surrey. Spend an hour or at the farm, then make the 6-minute drive to Crescent Beach for some waves, ice cream and fabulous restaurants. Guided tours start at 1:30pm Tuesday to Friday and weekend warriors can tour themselves after watching heritage demonstrations and trying some farm chores. A guaranteed family favorite in your summer photo album.

Historic Stewart Farm is an early 1900s farmstead lived in and worked on by newcomers during Surrey’s formative years. It is now a destination heritage site, offering a family friendly connection to the past through hands-on activities. Nestled on the river within the trees, it’s a scenic location for a walk, a paddle or a picnic. If you listen closer, you hear the many voices layered within the history here – the Semiahmoo People and the ancestral Snokomish, the Stewart family, farmhands, and birds who call the forest home. As you explore and engage with the site, you relate to the people who lived here, worked here and passed through on the life sustaining river.

The City of Surrey is the current steward of this land, responsible for its eight protected heritage buildings, but also for telling its true stories – those celebrated and heard before but also those left out and blurred by colonialization. Immersed in the past, Historic Stewart Farm inspires an appreciation today for land, honest history, diversity and reconciliation.
